The Letter Award

The Letter Awards were established in the fall of 2000 by the Office of Student Affairs with the support of the Council on Student Services. The Award aims to recognize graduating students for significant contributions to campus life, recognize leadership outside the classroom and publicly acknowledge students who have made a lasting impact at U of T Scarborough.

Recipients will receive a framed award during the SCSU Spring Formal on March 29th, providing a sense of pride and prestige to involvement and service to the campus.

**Selection Criteria**

The U of T Scarborough Letter Award will be presented to graduating students who:

1) Have a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA

2) Have made a significant contribution to campus life in one or more of the following ways:

• Provided outstanding leadership in the development of a new or creative initiative which will have a lasting impact on the campus;

• Made a significant impact on the quality of University life through programs, services and/or activities;

• Held an official position (elected position, positional leadership, participation on a committee, hired position) where their contribution well exceeded expectations or the role of that position;

• Engaged in service or actions which showed an outstanding commitment to improving campus life inside or outside of the classroom for a significant number of students, OR actions which have improved the cultural or learning environment of the campus;

• Initiated a service or project which resulted in increased collaboration between various constituencies, brought together groups for a common goal and/or promoted and encouraged the involvement of others.

Any member of the University community (students, staff and faculty) is welcome to submit nominations for the award. Nominees must be current full-time or part-time students.

 Gordon Cressy Award

Students who go the distance to improve the University of Toronto, their local communities and the world are proudly recognized with Cressy Awards.

Established in 1994 by the University of Toronto Alumni Association, the awards are named after Gordon Cressy, the former vice-president of development and university relations who was known for his commitment to higher education and his leadership in fundraising and community service.

Cressy Award winners are honoured each Spring at a ceremony that celebrates their outstanding extracurricular contributions to their college, faculty or school, to the university as a whole, or to the world.
